About the episode
Can I be successful without a plan? This mentor says ABSOLUTELY.
A plan is good, but have you ever felt weighed down by the one you have i.e. I’m not where I ‘should’ be? Or felt anxiety over the fact that you hadn’t figured out exactly what you want, by when, and with whom?
Despair not!
Today we’re celebrating being plan free and successful. Whether you’re a planner and your plans were thrust out the window by life’s happenings, or you’re the ‘flying on the seat of your pants’ sort – this podcast episode is for you!
I’d love to introduce you to Tanya Pratt, VP of Strategy and Product Management ORACLE Hospitality. Tanya transitioned into tech before it was cool and did so just after returning from maternity leave. She has since risen through the ranks of some prolific organisations and has done so whilst fiercely guarding her happiness, over following plans and paths set for her by others. Now, as a leader, she shares how she did it.
The whole world (including me) says you need a plan, and whilst having a plan is a tried and tested method to achieving success, but we all know it’s not always so straightforward. Knowing what you want can be hard in a world filled with stimulus, opportunities, fads and ideas.
That’s why I was drawn to Tanya’s path, to help us discover the power of agility from not being wedded to a plan. Tanya shares that sometimes it’s good to burn the roadmap and rely on your senses, intellect and intuition, a dynamo combo in its own right.
In this podcast episode, we discussed:
– The benefits of not having a plan and how you can succeed without one
– How to know when it’s time to move on
– How to get over mum guilt and why you shouldn’t aim for ‘balance’
– How to annihilate the feeling of not being where you should be
Tanya’s thinking is original and will give you alternative ways of thinking about the more challenging aspects of a career. You definitely don’t want to miss this.
